Since 2016, the main technical route guided by Chinese goverment policies of "Northern Coal to Electricity" is the household heat pump heating, which is characterized by low ambient temperature heat pump heating systems.

In recent years, the heating market in the southern region (especially in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River) has gradually opened up. The "dual-supply heat pump" system, with winter floor heating and summer air conditioning, is the main trend. One of the notable features is the simultaneous consideration of cooling, heating, and even hot water needs.

Sanhua has always been an industry leader in the heat pump field, with rich experience in researching and applying heat pump technologies.

Optimization of control logic for 4-way valves: As a leading product of Sanhua, the annual output of 4-way valves exceeds 80 million units. Sanhua has been at the forefront of innovation in the 4-way valve field for the past decade, and for low ambient temperature applications, we recommend the following control method for 4-way valves, which is crucial for reversing switching reliability.

S curve electronic expansion valve: For systems that require equal consideration of both cooling and heating performance, special requirements are placed on the flow curve of electronic expansion valves. Firstly, ensure that the electronic expansion valve has sufficient capacity during cooling and the same valve needs to be adjusted smoothly in the low opening range during heating. This is significantly different from traditional air conditioning electronic expansion valves and requires special attention to choose the correct model.

To achieve the EU's 2050 carbon neutrality goal, countries in Europe are promoting heat pump to replacement the fossil fuel-based heating methods. The Russia-Ukraine conflict has accelerated the process of getting rid of Europe's dependence on natural gas, bringing huge growth to the heat pump heating market. In 2023, Germany officially passed a new heating bill, requiring that at least 65% of renewable energy supply be used in each newly installed heating system from 2024 onwards (such as heat pumps or biomass boilers), laying a legal foundation for the long-term development of heat pumps.

Low GWP solution: The latest requirements of the EU F-gas regulation ( fluorine gas regulation) indicate that R32 will not be usable in Air-to-Water systems starting from 2027, and R290 has become the most competitive option. Whether it's R32 or R290, IEC/EN60335-2-40/2-34 requires that electrical products shall not become ignition sources under any circumstances (evaluation of arc/spark and surface temperature of the product), and accordingly, Sanhua's related products have all passed 3rd party certification suitable for flammable refrigerants.
